The Federal Government is set to empower 50, 000 unemployed youths drawn from 18 states of the federation as part of a new job creation scheme to be known as the N-Build initiative.
The N-Build initiative will see the youths receive training that will provide critical skills for the construction sector which has a very high labour absorptive capacity.
Making the disclosure at the 38th edition of the Kaduna trade fair, minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige said three states in each of the six geo-political zones as well as Lagos state and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja will serve as pivots for the first phase.
According to him, in the last 12 months, the present administration of President Mohammadu Buhari has recorded remarkable progress in the implementation of employment creation programmes.
He said the administration has also generated employment opportunities for the jobless both in the rural areas and within the urban centres of the country.
He said the federal government continues to view the unemployment situation in the country with seriousness, adding that, “nobody should be left in doubt that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, is fully aware of the challenging economic situation of the country.”
Ngige however said the government at the centre is already tackling the problem frontally, emphasizing that employment creation remains one of the cardinal programmes of the present administration aside security and the fight against corruption.
He said, “As you are fully aware, the Social Investment Programme (SIP) of the Federal Government is also in progress. The present administration has been putting smiles on the poorest and most vulnerable through the Conditional Cash Transfer in which the beneficiaries are paid the sum of Five Thousand Naira monthly.
The N-Power Project is also open to the unemployed graduates and non graduates to avail themselves of training in software development and hardware servicing. You stand the chance of becoming a professional in graphic arts and many more in lifelong skills. The promotion of NDE sponsored entrepreneurs to trade fairs of this magnitude is to enable the participants exchange useful ideas with their colleagues in other fields and to spur them to greater heights.
